According to Geert Hofstede´s scale, El Salvador scores high on the uncertainty avoidance index. That is, there is a high tendency to be conservative and to avoid change. The U.S., in contrasts, scores low and therefore embraces risk more readily.
The Salvadorean culture is collectivist,whereas the U.S. culture tends to be very individualistic. Thus, relationships in El Salvador are very strong and extended families are important.
There is a high power distance in El Salvador, whereas in the U.S., power distance tends to be low.
